That's Life I Guess

This morning I was heading to work after dropping of Ben at Jan's house. I was in a hurry because I was going to be late to our weekly Custom Pubs meeting and I was on the access road of 360 going to get on to the entrance ramp for 30. I was in the left lane going straight through an intersection when a van started to turn and turned right into me. I swerved to get out of his way, but he hit me anyway and I stopped inches from a utility pole. It's then that I realized that I was in the left hand of two turn lanes and was trying to go straight! The accident was completely my fault! I got hit hard on the back seat passenger side door and ruined a tire and cut into the alloy wheel. I was so upset and frustrated, mostly with myself, but the guy in the medical diagnostic van was nice and turned out to be an off-duty police officer, which meant he of course called in the accident and I got a ticket. John came and fixed my tire and my car is still driveable so he took me to work and will come pick me up this afternoon with Benjamin. I'm so thankful that I had already dropped Ben off so he wasn't in the car with me. It sucks because my car will have to be fixed and we'll have to report it to the insurance company! But at least I'm okay and it's only a car, right?

Funny thing happened though while I was there waiting for the police officers to do their thing and for John to get there. A car pulled up and who else but Lisa Williams from my ward comes up to me at the scene to make sure I'm okay. Her and Karen Spitzer and Judy Carroll were on their way to the hospital and saw me out there and wanted to make sure I didn't need anything. I, being the sleep deprived and emotional person I am these days, cried and so I'm sure they really thought something was wrong. But I was glad to see them and they made me feel better. Unfortunately they were going spend some time at the hospital with a lady who used to be in our ward, Kiera Elledge, because her husband was having brain surgery because of a brain tumor! I worked with her in RS so I was very sad to hear about that!

So that's been my eventful day (so far). Hopefully everything will turn out for the best!

Wow, Missy. That stinks! I'm glad you're okay! That's awful about Sister Elledge's husband! I knew her really well because we worked together in Primary!

I'm sorry, John, for not mentioning you in my post. I was very grateful to have a husband who could be there to help me with my car. Thank you for taking time out of work to pick me up, take me to sonic to get a vanilla DP and for taking me to work AND picking me up that afternoon. I love you!
