Oh Sleep, When Will I Find You?

As some of you know, Ben has been sick for the past few days. The doctor said it was probably a viral infection that caused an ear infection which then led to the fluid in his ears. We were given a generic antibiotic to give him. Ben's also teething and in a lot of pain just from that (it's his two front coming in at the same time) so being sick is not helping much. John went to the pharmacy Monday to get the prescription filled but they had to order it. When he went to pick it up last night they said it was going to be $102!! I'm not even kidding AND we have insurance! So much for a generic! So Ben is STILL without his antibiotics which he really needs and the doctor's office is looking for something comporable to give him that may not be as expensive. Ben has had screaming fits and is really hard to console, even after Orajel and Tylenol. Last night, for example, he wakes up at midnight and I assume he's hungry since he hasn't had much of an appetite during the day and he sits in my lap, refuses to eat and proceeds to scream (even after the orajel and tylenol) for over an hour. I changed his diaper, everything! I finally went to John in tears and had him take Ben. And of course he goes to sleep about 10 minutes later after eating an entire bottle. SIGH. He woke up again at 4:30, wouldn't eat again and cried himself to sleep after me holding him for about 10 minutes. Needless to say, it's been a little frustrating in our house. I almost didn't take him to the babysitter today so that I'd have a reason to stay home from work and maybe get some SLEEP. I'm so tired! Hopefully after a couple of days on a less expensive antibiotic he will be better but I'm just praying that Ben will be comfortable enough at night to get some good sleep. Heaven knows all three of us need it!

Wow. I feel your pain! I hope Ben feels better! Tommy woke up on Monday night at 1am just crying and crying, and we discovered that he had really bad gas. Poor guy. I thought he got over that when he was a baby!
