Another Movie Review: Transformers
After an unsuccessful attempt to see Transformers on the 4th, Mom was gracious enough to watch Ben for us on Saturday night so we could go see it. John's really wanted to see it because he grew up watching it. I was looking forward to it. I had heard it was really cool, but I didn't go in expecting a lot from it. I don't know a lot about Transformers since I didn't watch it much as a kid. I'll tell you what, though, director Michael Bay knows what he's doing. From the first minutes of the movie I was completely reeled in and completely captivated. They wasted no time in showing a Decepticon tearing apart a military base and it was incredible! The entire movie I was in awe of how great the special effects were. Shia LaBeouf was really funny and great as the semi-dorky hero. I love movies that are that sort of summer blockbuster save the world kind of movies. I loved Independence Day, I loved Armageddon and this one surpassed both of those. The actors were great, the storyline was really well played out and (almost) believable and best of all, the special effects were UNBELIEVABLE. There are parts of it that just blew me and John away (two bots fighting on the overpass of a freeway-so cool!) Optimus Prime got a little cheesy in his lines, but John said that's how it was in the series so you have to give them credit for sticking to that. I think my only complaint about the movie was that it did get kind of cheesy in a few places and I felt like they took a little too much time in doing certain things. But it was really cool and actually really hilarious in some parts. I highly recommend seeing it and seeing it again. John and I are still trying to fenagle our way to see it again!
CJ and I saw it on Saturday as well and I really loved it. That is saying a lot because I was really going to support my husband but lacked internal enthusiasm. But now I want to go see it again. That is amazing because I never see movies twice! Anywho, my review is the same as yours... too cheesy and too drawn out at point but overall it was great!!
Missy, I agree with your review completely. It was a little cheesy, but I think all of Michael Bay's movies tend to have a cheesy moment or two. Optimus Primes' narration was a bit overly sentimental, but it was funny and entertaining. It's the best of the Summer movies I've seen so far.
When I heard Transformers was coming out, I was like, "are you serious?" but now I really want to go. I really like Shia LaBeouf.
