Labor Day Weekend
For the first time in a LONG time, John and I actually had conflicting offers for Labor Day. The Spitzers called us Sunday night and invited us to a barbecue at their house and we agreed to go, only to have Kelli call me early Monday and invite us over too! I'm sorry we couldn't make it to your house, Kelli! Sounds like everyone had a really great time. So we headed over to the Spitzer's around 3:15 and it was really fun to catch up a with Ambyr and a few other ward members that were there we don't socialize with very much. The Spitzer's son, Brent, was there with his new baby and I've never seen a baby loved on by more people than that baby! But he is adorable so I guess I don't blame them. The Spitzers have this amazing playroom with a pool table and a tv larger than I will ever have and the bathroom that's attached was to die for. At times when I get kind of jealous over things like that I have to remember that 1. They're a lot older than me and 2. He's a CFO!
But after eating and once everyone started jumping in the pool (after the rain stopped) we decided to put Ben in his suit and have Ambyr's husband, Mark, take Ben in since neither John nor I had suits and and even if we did, would not be caught in dead in swimsuits right now. I'm not sure if it was the cold water or that there were a lot of people in the pool or that he doesn't know Mark very well, but Ben would have NOTHING to do with swimming! He just kept crying! So we pulled him out and let him run around in his suit for a while and then decided to head home since he was really hungry, but couldn't sit still long enough to eat!
After we got home we decided to try and take Ben swimming in the pool at our condo that no one hardly swims in so we knew we'd be alone. After a while he actually warmed up to it and by the time we left John was throwing Ben a few feet in the air across to me in the pool and he was loving every minute of it! So we'll take him swimming more often to get him acclimated and it is definitely motivation to lose weight!
Linda Larsen's article in the newsletter this month was actually perfect for what you were talking about. She said something about remembering the season you are in NOW, and to not compare to others who are in a different season of their lives. I liked it because I definitely get jealous sometimes of things like that and have to be reminded that situations differ. That was long. Whew. I'm glad you had fun. How cute Ben swimming. Before you know, he'll be jumping in before you can stop him.
Isn't it sad that I do the newsletter every month and I never even read it? I'll definitely read it now!
I really only read so closely because I have to edit it! But I'm glad I do, because they are usually pretty good.
