Nooooo!!!

Mitt Romney to suspend his candidacy. This makes me so sad and angry. I think this ultimately means a Democrat is going to win. The stupid liberal media is going to stab McCain in the back. Mark my word! And you can basically blame Huckabee for not getting out of the race. I know he was only in it to take delegates from Mitt Romney. It's just another stupid political stunt by him and McCain who will ultimately pick Huckabee as his running mate. They're going to have to do a lot of convincing for me to even think of voting for them.

Mitt, we love you and wish you the best!

I am disapointed as well because I was just warming up to him. He would have been a great president. This is certainly shaping up to be an interesting race, isn't it?

I just saw that too. I am sad. I do not know what to think now. Obviously Romney (we are back on last name basis) endoreses McCain over the dems. I just do not know what to do now. But I will still write in his name in the Rep primary in a month. :-)

Missy don't talk like that it scares me. If McCain(lib in sheep's clothing) gets the nomination, we have to stand behind him. Even though he is too liberal to be a True Republican he is right on more issues than the leftists he will be running against i.e; on securing the border, defending the 2nd amendment, on government spending. So even though he is an economic idiot, and drinking the Gore global warming koolaid he is the best if nominated. We will have to put faith the GOP to put the pressure on McCain to appoint justices that will uphold and defend the the Constitution. I agree that it is a sad day but I guess I knew it was coming after Tuesday, just not this soon. I have been trying to find positive things to say about McCain (check out Bill Bennett's comments on this at http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YmI2YjE1Y2QxODI1ZGI1ZGNhNmQwOThlNWVlMmNlMTc=) but it has been hard. I do not know if I can ever fully support McCain but I do agree with him on a number of issues and he's better than Huckabee for sure. Ultimately, I would vote for him because I do not want a democrat and not because he is my candidate of choice.

Several other things are worth noting as well. First, this puts Romney in a better position for 2012 if he were to run again. He can build his profile for the next four years, all of which will make him a stronger candidate next time. Second, someone here at school pointed out that they do not think Huckabee will be the vice presidential nominee because he will turn off all the independents that would vote for him and he is not liked by the conservative establishment. He is rightfully seen as a social conversvative running populist economics. Someone like Duncan Hunter might be a more likely candidate.

I'd like to see George Allen as a VP candidate as well. I wonder if timing would allow Romney to run for Senate since he didn't seek re-election as Governor? Maybe he could once and for all kick Ted Kennedy out. It would be nice to see Romney stay in the spotlight, but he might not be up to running again in 2012. I imagine that would be a difficult decision for him and his family.

After McCain's speech today I think he said the right things, but I don't have any trust in him to do the right thing when it comes down to it. He'll just reach his hand across the aisle instead of to his own party like has been doing for 20 years...

global warming kool-aid. I hate that flavor. Too bad he had to spend $40 million of his own money before realizing that the GOP candidates would all gang up on him. I thought it was funny that Ann Coulter said she would rather have Hillary Clinton as president than McCain.

I don't know what I'm going to do now...

Does curling up under the table in the fetal position help?

Too many comments to read, but my take on the stituation is that we really have to make informed votes now. I did see Ann Coulter talking about Hilary over McCain, and I had to agree with some of the things she said. That either way the next 4 years will be bad, but at least Hilary's changes will be reversable, and if it is McCain in office then the Republincans will take the fall for his choices. This is shaping up to be the important election that we all thought it was going to be. big changes on the US front, that is for sure!
