Way Back Wednesday: Ode to My Dad
Today I bring you three pictures in tribute to my dad. The first picture is from one of our summer trips to Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado. My dad worked for the church and they had conferences for all of the guys in his department in Colorado three summers in a row. We absolutely loved it. There is so much to do there during the summers, the Alpine Slide, horseback riding and endless walks in the mountains and hours in the pool. I seriously want to go when we have a few kids that are older because I only have really fun memories of that place. And they're almost finished with a multi-million dollar renovation that is supposed to be awesome. Anyway!
Here is my dad and me on the chair lift to get to the Alpine Slide. Fun! That's my sister, Mandie, in the back looking like she's having not too good of a time. What's up with that, Mandie?
Then we have me and my dad at my baptism. Isn't my baptism dress cute? I loved that dress. I honestly don't remember much about the day I was baptized. I wish I did. I will have to check my dad's journals to see what he wrote about that day.
Last but not least is my favorite all-time picture of myself when I was a kid. This is from a family trip to the Grand Canyon. I think we stopped there while we were in Arizona visiting my sister Ginny and her family. Man, we did so many fun things when I was a kid! My dad loved this picture, and it's home was his bulletin board in his office for as long as I can remember. It made me so happy that he loved that picture of me. And it still does. I love my dad. He was an amazing person.
1. I love your new heading.
2. The thing I remember best about my baptism day is that Derek Spitzer cut his head in the church gym, and I was pissed cause I thought he was ruining the most important day of my life. haha.
3. Do you have Courtney Spitzer's blog's address?
You know what song makes me cry everytime because I picture your dad singing it...? Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel.
I miss Dad. Thanks for the memories.
Your dad was awesome. I just read about him in my journal the other day. I have been doing too much reminiscing lately!
No wonder he loved that picture, it's adorable! It sounds like he was a really special person.
Cute pictures! I loved Purgatory too--it was a great vacation.
