Funny Story for a Friday Morning

I haven't had a lot to blog about lately. There's honestly not a lot going on right now. Since finishing up some projects for blogs and for our Stake Nativity, things have been pretty calm. I'm looking forward to relaxing and watching Conference tomorrow then taking pictures of my sister's cute family on Sunday evening!

I thought I'd share with you a slightly embarrassing but somewhat funny story that happened to me last weekend.

After we went to the airport park we had to get home so I could finish up everything I needed for Relief Society on Sunday since we were going to be at my mom and sister's ward for my niece Julie's missionary farewell (tear!) I was having issues with my computer and once about 5:15pm rolled around I knew I wasn't going to make it to the dinner for the Relief Society Broadcast that night. So I got everything I needed ready but still had to go make copies on my way down and make it to the stake center by 7pm for the Broadcast. I left my house at 6:00pm on the dot and got to Office Depot about 6:15. I was so excited the parking lot was pretty empty and I knew they'd be able to whip out my 50 copies in no time flat. I hurriedly got all of my things together and as I rushed to get out of the car I hear a RIIIIIPPPP. Yep. The slit on the back of my skirt had popped it's seam and slit halfway up the back of my skirt! This skirt is kind of big on me anyway and it's pretty long so I pulled it down as far as I could and was discreet as I could be at Office Depot to get my copies ran. But it was pretty bad. Big draft in my skirt. I'd have to do something about it before going to the stake center.

Luckily my copies were done in less than 10 minutes and I ran to the car and since Target was only 5 minutes away I thought I could just run in, buy a new black skirt and change in the bathroom. Well it would be my luck that right now there exists NO plain black skirts at Target. There are shorter black skirts and super frilly black skirts and lots of other colored skirts that obviously wouldn't match what I was wearing. So after pacing the clothes 10 or 15 times, scouring the clearance racks, rummaging through the maternity section (I was desperate), all the while trying to keep myself modest, I gave up. It was 15 till 7 and I knew I'd be late. So I resorted to safety pins. Yes that's right, I safety-pinned the slit on my skirt.

It was actually a pretty good fix but I was still so embarrassed and thought everyone would notice. I'm sure no one even did. To make myself feel better I grabbed a set of new earrings (three different colors of the same style pair) as I went to check out with the safety pins I had to look all over the store for. But I can say that I LOVE these earrings. I wear them at least every other day and felt quite sassy when I realized I still had them on when I went to work out last night. I know, it's sad that such a small thing can bring me joy, but it really did make me feel better!

So I totally have those earrings in a copperish/brownish color! But I bought them from Puerto Rico a couple years ago for like a dollar! hehe...funny story but I'm sure it wasn't so funny at the time!! Oh! And when u NEED to buy something, you'll never find it. I've learned that many times!

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't notice anything was amiss with your skirt! That's a funny story, though..

Nice earrings!

I love the earrings! Hmm...I think I need those! Don't you hate it when something like that happens? I was teaching back in May and I wore khaki capris to work one day. We'll I ran into Ross to look for some new shoes for Anna when I saw my backside in the mirror. I had baby yuck all over the back of one of my legs! I had no idea what it was, and Eddie must had done it as I was leaving! Luckily, I had only taught one student, but I didn't have much time, so I quickly looked for a new pair of ANYTHING, bought it and changed in the car! I was SO glad that I was wearing a black shirt that day, so that I could match anything that I bought!

Hey, maybe you'll set a new trend. Safety pinned skirt slits! Someone call Project Runway.

Great story. I had something like that happen to me at school a few years ago. I ended up in my classroom trying to sew up the tear while my kids were at PE. Safety pins would have been much faster.

That's so funny you searched in the maternity section! Sometimes as I'm looking around Target, I will wonder in there & find some cute stuff before realizing it's maternity :)

Sorry about the skirt, but good find on some serious "hoochie-mama" earrings! Careful or Mom will snitch them!
