What's Going On Wednesday

1. I hate Grackles. This morning I had to stop and get a few bucks of gas because I refuse to pay $2.97 for gas up by our house when it's $2.59 in Burleson. Not even kidding, it really is $2.59 down here! I got enough gas to make it to work, but there were hundreds of grackles around the gas station! Usually they save their obnoxious swarming for the evening hours when they congregate around ever major shopping center in Arlington and you have to be careful not to park under trees. (I have a story about that I'll share sometime.) But I really hate these birds! One nearly flew right into me as I got out of the car and another perched itself on top of the pump I was using and I swear it stared at me the whole time. We learn to deal with the grackle invasion every Winter, but it still kind of sucks!

2. Yesterday I got a text from our RS President (I'm the RS Secretary) and she wanted to have a quick meeting at 6pm at the Institute Building. So I picked up Ben and ran to my mom's to grab a couple of diapers since I didn't have any with me. After that we headed to Target to get a coloring book and crayons to keep Ben occupied and I searched for a shirt like Jenny had on at Super Saturday because I really wanted to get one for our family pictures. But, alas, all they had were XS in the color I wanted. I will not give up my search! I stopped at McDonald's to get Ben a happy meal and we made it to the meeting 10 minutes late. Ben clung to me for the first 15 minutes and was pretty good after that. We made it home by 7:15 and Ben was asleep by 8. All was not lost!

3. While I was at my mom's she gave me Indiana Jones since she'd just bought it. I was excited because we'd be able to watch it last night or tonight. I thought John had class late last night, but it turns out he had a test in his Geology class and so he didn't have lab and beat me and Ben home. Yay! And the dishwasher that's been sitting in the middle of our kitchen was gone. THANK YOU JOHN! So after Ben was in bed we decided to stay up and watch Indiana Jones. I think the overwhelming thought we had about this movie was CHEESE, but come on, it's Indiana Jones, it's cheesy, it's impractical and the alien thing really didn't bother me. Plus it has my Shia in it so it was all good!

4. Tonight John and I are going to Old Navy. I think I'm pretty lucky that John actually likes to go shopping. We love going on random shopping trips to Target, though we don't get to do that as often since he's back in school. We're going to pick up some jeans for him since I have a coupon for $10 off $50 I got last week when I got a pair of jeans there for Ben. I hate Old Navy for the mere fact that since I spent that $14 on a pair of jeans for Ben I seriously can't buy him jeans anywhere else now, they fit him way to well and are boot cut so they actually go over the back of his shoes (a major necessity for me) and they're just COOL. Old Navy kids boot cut jeans are awesome.

5. My dear friend Ambyr is going to be nice and let me push our family pictures back a week. I'm trying to be so so good so I can look extra good in our pics, plus I've been needing a hair cut for a while and if we did them Friday I was going to pretty much have no time to do it before then. Next weekend is family pics and I'm SO excited!

6. Remember me posting about Coldplay and how we were so excited to get to go for my birthday? Well tickets are crazy expensive and so we decided not to spend the $150+ it would have ended up costing. And then there was the sadness of us not having any money when SYTYCD tickets went on sale so I missed that, too. One of my favorite people in the whole world, Nikki, emailed me yesterday that Ben Folds is playing next Thursday at the Palladium and how cool it would be to go and so I'm like "Let's GO!" So we're totally going. ;) And I'm SO excited! Open seating, you can get close to the stage, it's going to be awesome. :)

7. Speaking of Coldplay. The CD I have in my car right now is my Missy's Mix and it has one of my favorite songs on it from Coldplay "Death and All His Friends." That CD is fast becoming one of my favorites of theirs. Last night on our way home we were listening to it in the car and Ben is bopping his head in the back seat and looks at me in the rear view mirror and says "Cool song, Mama!" I think I melted. Then when the part near the end comes on where the group is singing he goes "Sing, Mama!" So I did. And he tells me to do that every time now. I love that kid!

I am SO. DANG. EXCITED about Ben Folds! I can't wait! And that story about Ben is freaking cute! I'm sure he's going to grow up with good tast in music.

Oh, and I agree about Indiana Jones. It was cheesy, but I think they're all cheesy. I guess that's part of what makes them fun, and I think Shia was great in that movie! I just hope they don't overdo it with the sequels!

Did the grackle that was staring at you say anything that resembled "Nevermore?" And I totally love Indiana Jones, cheese notwithstanding. I am so jealous that John likes to go on random trips to Target. Every time I make Bryce go, if it's even possible to get him through the doors, he turns into the grumpiest man on the planet and stops speaking.

I'm so proud of you! You are going to look amazing in those family pics!

Thanks for making me laugh today! Carrie used to put her hands over her ears when I was singing and yell "STOP". Carrie also has a date to see Ben Folds, so I guess I'm going to have to look him up. Have fun!

okay, so Indiana Jones was worth seeing, even with cheese? I've been debating....we should watch it while I have access to my bro's big screen tv...

Jealous that you can find gas for $2.59. The cheapest gas here is $3.69 and I thought that was a deal!

Jenny...YES! Watch Indiana Jones. It was that good kinda cheesy, ya know? And after we saw it, we started watching the old ones...and those are ALL kinds of cheesy, too!! And Shia makes it worth it ;).
Thanks for the info on the Grackles...I have always wondered where these big swarms come from...sooo annoying.
