Thursday Thirteen
1. Life has been very busy as of late. Because of this. And this. And, of course, this.
2. Last week John was out of town for a couple of days. The company he works for got bought out by a bigger and more established company. They offered all the guys the opportunity to go to Phoenix for their company retreat. John got to eat at In-N-Out Burger (lucky!), was given an award at their big meeting, and EVEN won a door prize (a $100 Southwest Airlines Gift Card!) All in all he had a great time. I was really glad he got to go!
3. Kelli and I launched Primp and Tell this week. We're so so thrilled at the positive response. Keep checking back, we have a lot of fun stuff planned! (And there will be more and more giveaways!)
4. I'm not prepared for this warmer weather. In fact, I'm not happy about it at all. I have pretty much no summer clothes and Ben doesn't even have many summer clothes except the two pairs of shorts and couple of short sleeved shirts I've bought in the past couple of weeks. NOT READY FOR SUMMER!!
5. I love my car. Summer will test how much I love the fact that it's black.
6. No one on American Idol should be allowed to sing any song by Coldplay. Last night was a complete disaster. What were they thinking letting these people through? Maybe a handful of them are good, no one is amazing. What is going on? They should have let Jamar through. And get rid of that 4th judge! Sheesh.
7. Ben has been really great and really cute lately. He still throws tantrums a lot, but he's getting better. He has a new book Kelli got him on one of our random trips to Target that's James Goes Buzz Buzz. I can't tell you how much he loves this book. He "reads" it to me in the car on the way to school with surprising accuracy.
8. We have a lot of fish now. After killing off a few we ended up with a couple of Bettas that have lasted a long time and a small aquarium with lots of these guys. I can't tell you how adorable Black Moor Goldfish are. They have these huge buggy eyes and big flippy tails and they are so funny to watch! And we may have gone through a few fish, but at least we're not these guys!
9. I can't believe some of you are still reading this!
10. I got a new calling at church! I have been in Relief Society for a really long time. For most of my married life I have been the secretary in RS, except for that two year stint in Primary and a few short months teaching 11-12 year old Sunday School. I am now the Beehive Adviser and couldn't be more excited. It's a huge change, a huge responsibility and a huge amount of work, but I know it will be worth it!
11. Because of our new callings, we have one of the busiest Saturdays for us in a really long time comes up this weekend. I'm hoping for a relaxing Friday night to prepare for it!
12. In the mornings I usually leave Ben in his room for a little while so I can get dressed. He just lays on his bed talking to himself. He does this at night, too, and it's the funniest thing to sit and listen to what he says. It's usually repeats of things he's heard during the day, whether from us or one of his teachers. This morning he kept saying "No! Josh-U-A!" over and over. He has a friend in his class he always calls Josh so I'm assuming he prefers to be called "Josh-U-A!"
13. We tried Double Dave's for the first time last night. It was so. good. Double Dave's is the new CiCi's!
I'm so jealous of #10! I've wanted to be in YW for so long!
13. Ah, Double Dave's ... an Aggie classic! (It started in College Station... )
Yeah! YW! You had better be glad that you are teaching Beehives and NOT Mia Maids! Mia Maids are monsters, at least in my ward, and Beehives are so sweet! You're going to have lots of fun with them!
Danny and I LOVE Double Daves. My first experience with them was with Mike. He used to moonlight at a pizza delivery guy and brought home some pizza when we stayed with him many years ago. Unfortunately, the closest one to our house shut down. Too bad.
That's really cool that John got to go on the retreat. What award did he get?
Oh, and I just discovered today that I am SO not ready for warm weather. I have no clothes that fit! I'm glad that everything is too big, but that means that I have to buy lots of new clothes! Darn. The kids are pretty set, though, thanks to Children's Place and $3 skorts!
I am so disappointed in American Idol right now. Song choice, people! Song choice!
#4. AMEN! I am NOT a hot weather person, and the last 2 days have been horrible, and comparitively they are NOTHING. Maybe we all need to save money and go on a summer clothes shopping spree...
#7. Ben IS cute! He was so good tonight (not even going to TALK about my monsters) and I love that he just entertains himself. He is pretty funny!
#13. Double Daves....SO STINKING GOOD! That choc. chip pizza is out of this world good (and completely sinful)
don't forget to add me to your list of busy!!!! you crack me up!!!
I'm not ready for warmer weather either -- I have had a hard time finding shorts over the last few years so my capris have gotten pretty raggedy. I only have one decent pair.
Oh, and you must have a good Double Daves, because we have one near me that, well, sucks. I think it used to be some other pizza store, and it got bought out, and when we went, the place was run down and there were flies landing on the pizza and the salad. Gross! If we want cheap pizza, the CiCis is pretty close.
Congrats to John on being honored at work--it's nice when people acknowledge your hard work. And working with the Beehives will be a blast; enjoy!
