Day 03 — A favorite photo

This is a picture from Thanksgiving 2010 of Ben and his 6-year-old cousin, Helen. We're so lucky that Ben is really great around other kids. He never meets a kid that isn't instantly his friend. He loves everyone he meets. He wants them to be his friend. He wants them to feel included. It's awesome. So Helen is no exception, but they do have a great cousin relationship.

The reason why I love this picture so much is because they're so young and innocent (they're sword fighting with palm leaves). They weren't aware of the real reasons we were in San Benito. They don't understand that John's dad has cancer and that his mom's health is extremely fragile. All they knew is that they were there with their family and they were having a great time. That's how they'll always remember that trip and I am totally okay with that.
