John's Mom

Mark got to talk to his mom yesterday and he said it was probably the most coherent conversation he's had with her since she has had cancer. That is very good news. The doctor told Steve (John's dad) that it looks like she has had a couple of minor strokes and a mild heart attack in the last few years. They were able to clear the fluid out of her lungs and and though she will have lasting effects from the stroke and heart attack, she's doing much better. So it is all good news and she will just have to take good care of herself from now on. That on top of being diabetic will be a struggle, but for someone whose had cancer three times, I think she can handle it. We're very grateful that things didn't turn out worse. It could have been like Maw who went down hill very fast, but thankfully it looks like she's going to be okay! We insisted she take the time she needs to recover before coming to see Ben so hopefully they'll do that. Thanks for everyone's prayers!

**Update**
We now know for sure that John's mom has congestive heart failure. It's good to have an actual diagnosis instead of the "we don't really know" John's dad has been getting. Nikki will be able to symphathize since her mom has it too.
