American Idol-Week 2

So I think they got all of the overexcessive BAD out of their system, and seemed to concentrate a little more (but just a little) on the good singers. One thing I really hate, though, is when they do those dumb montages of one song. In Memphis it was "Hunk of Burnin Love." Honestly, do all of those people really sing that song or do they have them sing it JUST for the sake of using the worst pepole in the montage? It's a waste of time. But anyway. Memphis gave us a few great singers. If I was to put my money on a finalist right now I'd put it on Melinda Doolittle. I watched her song 3 times! Yay for DVR! I wasn't a fan of the guys voice whose wife just had a baby. I really didn't think he should have made it and I'm certain his wife will just be thrilled to have him galavanting off to California, leaving her at home with a newborn...

New York was a bit ridiculous. I remember that Ian kid from the "So You Think You Can Dance" audition and he was equally as atrocious and annoying then. "One of my therapists thinks I'm a star!" Good for you! (Me and Mandie secretly like SYTYCD better than Idol, but don't tell Ryan Seacrest, it might hurt his feelings!) So New York did not have the best auditions. I did love the bit with the two best friends, when they told the second girl she was better. Then outside the room her friend was like "so what did they tell you?" and she didn't say anything about how they think she's better. That's sure to spark some drama in Hollywood and I look forward to it! Highlights were the tall young black kid who looked like he stepped out of a JCrew ad. He had a nice voice, though he looks like one that might forget his words... Speaking of, the guy who quit last season shouldn't have gone through in my opinion, but I guess they really liked his voice. We'll see how well he does next round. Oh, and I did like the kid in the green shirt, but I don't think he'll live up to Simon's standards.

I really liked the guy that made it through last year. I think his voice is sexy.. but don't tell Brian. :) j/k

Missy, MSNBC had a very interesting essay by a singer who tried out for American Idol. Hopefully you find it interesting. We hope Ben gets better too! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15310288/
