Everything Happens For a Reason

John and I have both been determined to be more social and get to know the people in our ward better. We signed up to feed the missionaries on Saturday so I invited a couple that has two small kids to join us. She took over my Primary class when I was released and I've always wanted to get to know her better. We also like to have people over more often because our house stays cleaner. :) I spent two days cleaning because it NEEDED to be done and we even did some rearranging of our living room to give Ben more space to crawl around. It makes such a huge difference! We were worried that it might be a little awkward just having them over and no one else, but we had such a fun time! Their son is almost a year old, but about the same in his crawling, etc as Ben is. Ben was VERY wary of this baby boy, Brady, and didn't like all the people over at first. But after a full tummy he was more than excited to crawl around and play with both of their kids. It was really surprising to us how similar Ben is to Brady. They make the same noises, their cries sound very similar and they even do the same funny "mmmmm" all the time. They don't look a lot alike (though they're both blonde), but I'll post some photos when I have time so you can see.

One of the best things that came out of having them over is that Shannon offered to be my back-up babysitter! Her husband is in law school so they're living on school loans and she was more than excited for the opportunity to make a little extra money. They're also huge Cowboys fans so we now have a couple to watch the games with next season. Having the missionaries over was also great because we haven't done it in so long and it was great to feel their spirits because they're such good missionaries. I know it was more than just a coincidence that I was compelled to invite them over and I'm so glad that I did!

All in all, we had a great weekend. Our next two weekends are booked up as well so we're looking forward to it!

Sounds like a fun time! I'm glad you made some new friends and found a new baby-sitter! Danny and I keep saying that we're going to start inviting people over, but we never do!

Cool. I am glad to hear that efforts to do good (i.e. feed missionaries, make friends, etc.) pays off. Kenny and I have started to make some good friendships with other couples. It has been good for us; I recommend it.
