Ha!
In one of the magazines I work on we do a Vistas section where we our editors pick fantastic properties from across the US that are for sale that are also on a lot of land. We do this free to brokers so that it's not revenue-driven. I was sent images for one amazing property in Southampton. It's a nice 7.5 acres that includes a 6 bedroom mansion, but it fails to mention the square footage. It's priced at a competitive $25 million! I saw a "calculate your mortgage payment" option and thought that would be a hoot, so here's what my payment would be, with a measely 3% down:
Mortgage Amount..............$24,250,000.00
Down Payment....................$750,000.00
Mortgage Payment.............$141,517.00 per month
Total Monthly Payment.....$141,517.00
WHY??? Even if I had that much money, why would you want to spend so much money on a house???
I know, isn't that monthly payment incredible?! But I guess when you have so much money that you don't know what to do with it you go and buy real estate!
well...look how much HOUSE you get...and a BIG ole yard....
of course....you'll be living in it ALONE and the yard will never get mowed b/c you will only be able to pay one months mortgage with money you robbed from a bank and then you will be broke and foreclosed on and then flee the country to go live on a deserted island :).
ahhh....LIFE
Wow, what do you think the taxes are? I think it would probably take our yearly salary just for that. Of course, we could go the bank robbery route--Jared says they're up 400% in the last 3 years. Or we could be really happy with what we have and avoid all that stress!
Ok Missy... you win... we will move next year I called them and they said that they would hold it for us.
Can you believe people have that much money? And to some it's just like pocket change.
Just 6 bedrooms. Either the bedrooms are huge or there is a full sized bowling alley, swimming pool and basketball court in that house.
