It's the Little Things
So tonight I was working on some custom note cards to include with a baby shower present for a girl at work. I had them all printed and was getting ready to score and cut them when I realized I couldn't find the scoring blade for my rotary cutter ANYWHERE. This is not good. That scoring blade is the perfect tool for anyone who makes cards. I don't know what I would do without it! So around 9:45 I head to Wal-mart hoping that they, on some slim chance, would have one. That was a big nope! I decided that I would just get a ruler and use the end of a butter knife since it's not really sharp to score the cards that way since I hate the roughness of a hand-folded card. You see I'm quite picky when it comes to this stuff! The problem was there wasn't a ruler at Wal-mart. I looked in office supplies, I looked in crafts, I looked in school supplies and there was not a ruler to be had in the entire place. Do they not allow rulers in school for fear they could be used as a weapon? It was ridiculous. So deciding the 20-minute wait in line wasn't worth it for the gift bag I had in my hand I left. After I got home, I grabbed a knife out of the drawer and located my only ruler, an old yard stick left here by the previous owner. I was walking around our bed when I happened to look down at the exact spot next to the dresser where my scoring blade was! I was elated! So finishing up my card project took less than 10 minutes whereas it might have taken me nearly half an hour with my primeaval method I had conjured up. The result? A pretty cute card. Not my best work by any means, but I'm sure she'll love them!
Sounds like an adventure! I'm glad you finally found your blade!
Wow, Missy. You should like, get a website and sell your stuff online or something...
so talented!! im amazed....
Such a cute card. You should think about getting one of those "bone scorers" or whatever they're really called, as a backup -- Martha uses hers all the time. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for a few dollars (though it's really made out of hard plastic). ^_^
I tried to find one of those at Wal-mart, too, but their craft section is such a wasteland! I will probalby pick one up at Michael's one of these days, and maybe another scoring blade!
