Another Movie Review: 27 Dresses

I'm sitting at my desk during my lunch hour because I brought my lunch (soup) and it was gross so I ate a pig-in-a-blanket I found in the break room instead. I've got some time till I need to actually work so I thought this would be a good time for my movie review!

Let me start off this review by saying I knew practically nothing about this movie before I went and saw it with two of my sisters. I saw one preview the night before Melinda said she wanted to see it. I looked it up online and I have to say, as a graphic designer, I was in love with the promo poster. How can you not be? And I'm a sucker for a good chick flick so I knew this one would be a winner.

Let me also say that I don't watch Grey's Anatomy so I have no history of Katherine Heigl as an actress. I never will either so don't you try to convince me! It's just a thing I have. Like when my aforementioned sisters wouldn't watch The Sixth Sense because everyone said it was so great and I said they totally needed to see it. I'm sure, like them, I am missing out. But I have principles and I'm sticking to them!

Back to the movie review! 27 Dresses is the epitome of a stereotypical chick flick. Pretty girl has busy job and a drunken, sex-obsessed best friend (from 13 Going on 30). She's in love with a guy she can't have and is trying to please everyone around her. Let's just say it was like Ten Things I Hate About You meets Runaway Bride meets My Best Friend's Wedding. It's true when they say there are no new movies because there was this preview for another movie with Dr. Dreamy which is basically My Best Friend's Wedding but he's the best friend. Anyway. I'll still be seeing it, of course!

27 Dresses is greatness. I love Katherine Heigl in this and James Marsden is irritatingly likeable, in a way that you don't want to trust him but he's just so charming you can't help it. The plot is typical and you pretty much know what's going to happen but none of that really matters when it comes to movies like this. It's cheesy and somewhat unbelievable, but I walked away happy and it really makes me reminisce about meeting John and what it's like to fall in love (even though you wish you looked as awesome as Jane did and that your story is as great as theirs!) But seriously. I could watch this movie again and again and probably still like it. My favorite quotes? "I feel like I just found out that my favorite love song was written about a sandwich." AND "I cried like a baby at the Martin wedding." Go see this movie. If you're a girl, you'll love it!

I give it a 9 for the *sigh* factor, but I think her love confession towards the end was a little akward. Nonetheless, I'm planning on seeing it again this weekend.

I liked this movie, too! It was cheesy and predictable and pretty much as unrealistic as it gets, but what's wrong with that?

Everyone needs a nice, predictable romantic comedy every once in a while! Or, for me, more than every once in a while! I saw it this weekend as part of a girl's night out, and it was a good "girl's night out" kind of movie.

Thanks for the review! Im excited to see this one some day, too! You gotta love a cheese ball movie every now and again :).
And as for Grey's....you go girl, you're not missing anything...it's just addictive trash...thus the reason I watch it and wish I didn't ;P.

I love Katherine Heigl in Grey's Anatomy, so I was so excited when this movie came out and it wasn't rated R! Did you know she was raised LDS? I think I like her more for that, even though she's no longer active. It was a great movie! Thanks for seeing it with me!

I love cheesy girl's movies. I hate it when critics rip them up, because it's like, what were you expecting? We all need fluff in our lives. I'm excited to see it. Missy, I don't watch Grey's either.

I do watch Grey's and love Katherine Heigl! (I'm also a big nerd who remembers watching her on Roswell.) I probably won't get to the theater to see this but I'll be excited for when it comes out on DVD so I can Netflix it! Thanks for the review. :) (And the movie poster completely rocks!)
