I'm in Love

With measuring cups.

At our presidency meeting a couple of weeks ago I asked Jan if they sold odd-sized measuring cups at Williams-Sonoma. She works there on the weekends and gets a great discout. I wanted to get a set for myself and for my sister, Mandie, if they were cheap enough (since I didn't get her anything for Christmas). Jan assured me they did and that they were great and she'd pick me up a set. I said to just let me know how much they were and she said, "My treat!" I about fell on the floor. I assured her she didn't have to do that but she insisted.

Tonight after Enrichment she bestowed their loveliness upon me. And I think my life has changed. They're amazingly beautiful. There are three of them 2/3, 3/4 and 1-1/2. We always had these sizes growing up and they're so hard to find and you don't think about them until you don't have them! But as much as I am in love, I was suddenly conflicted. Do I keep them or give them to Mandie? I'm sorry, Mandie. I have to keep them. I just can't seem to part with them!

And as I waked to the kitchen to put them away I was let down by my small, dirty kitchen. I have no place worthy to store them. My cabinets are all cluttered and the drawers are accessible to a toddler. I'm imagining these beauties in some fancy kitchen with brand-new cabinets and just don't feel ours is worth it. But, I'll keep them on a shelf next to my cups as a reminder of my dream—a beautiful open kitchen worthy of my measuring cups.

I mean, just look at them. Can you blame me?

Okay Missy. That was low.

Since it was ME that so longingly mentioned them and gave you the idea, you better march yourself right back to her and ask her to get you another set. I'll pay for them for heaven's sake!

But I still love you.

Oh come on. You would have done the same thing! I've been wanting them too! Yes, you gave me the idea, but still! I just can't fathom the idea of parting with them. John thinks I'm nuts! I'll see how much they are with her discount and see if she'll pick you up a set! I'm sorry!

Your mom's not pretty.

Okay guys, they're just cups for crying out loud! Yes, they look nice, but COME ON! Oh, and Jan is pretty awesome!

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that, Melinda!

Just cups, sheesh!

I just had to say--THANK YOU for letting me know about these:) I must pick me up a set next time I am at the mall!!!! Every time I bake I think someone needs to make these...and here they are in all their GLORY! I am off to their website to find out the price---not that it matters at this point...I must have them!

I'm still hoping for regular metal measuring cups. I keep implying to my family around every holiday, that I would really like some, but still have yet to see the fruits of that. I still have the horrible plastic ones!

Well, they are quite expensive (less so if you buy them in a set with the regular-sized measuring cups or the spoons which I may have to get as well!)

My sister Melinda actually found a complete set of plastic ones at Ross for only $4.99. And gave them to Mandie, of course! So it might take some looking but they're out there if you want them cheaper!

Those measuring cups are beautiful. I have been eyeing them every time I go to Williams-Sonoma but haven't gotten them yet. Someday!
