A Morning in Funky Town
This morning Ben and I tagged along with my sister Ginny, her daugher-in-law Randi and my niece Mary to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens to see their butterfly exhibit (indoors thankfully!) I was hesitant because I know Ben's limitations and try not to put ourselves in situations where he can get out of control. So I had snacks, toys and most importantly of all, a stroller to keep him confined. Those of you that know Ben know that he is like the Energizer Bunny. You turn his switch and he just goes and DOES NOT STOP unless forced into a restraining device (ie stroller) or confined by his dad. Imagine my fear when we walk in to the exhibit and there is a giantic sign that says "No Strollers Allowed in Exhibit." GREAT! I was optimistic but my fears were soon realized when I spent the morning chasing Ben around the exhibit, which is an indoor rainforest environment so it was muggy and hot. I looked like a disaster and probably looked like the worst mom EVER. You think I'm joking? I had to keep myself from crying out of frustration on more than one occasion. But on the bright side, I have an amazing sister and nice-in-law that were happy to let Mary and Ben push their strollers around the covered atrium outside so I could at least take a few pictures of butterflies. Ginny wanted some anyway since she forgot her memory card. So I have for you all who have actually read this far some pictures I took with the new camera (including some of my little rugrat to prove I'm not exaggerating!) Granted, anyone could have taken most of these with this camera, it's really easy to use! And the butterflies were, of course, beautiful!
Wow! Those are beautiful pictures! I, of course, love the one of the tulip, but they are all great!
Well, it sounds like you and Ben had quite the adventure today. I'm sure that he isn't the first child to be unruly at the butterfly exhibit and he won't be the last! Just remember to show him those pictures when he's older to remind him of what a great mom you are!
Those pictures turned out great! I love the lighting. Did you adjust the colors at all or are those as they were taken? In any account, they are great! And I think you are an amazing mom!
Gorgeous pics! At least you got out and did something! I tried to tackle the rain today and we were SOAKED! Can't wait to see Ben be the energizer bunny! lol-wait till him and Madyson get together...that should enable us to get some very interesting pics..lol
Those pictures are fantastic!! Good job!
The pictures are gorgeous! But my favorite is the one of Ben crying (too cute!) I took Stevie to the Japanese gardens when he was Ben's age and it was the same kind of deal, a complete nightmare. :)
Thanks for sharing the day and the pics! She's not kidding about the energizer bunny thing. I volunteered to watch him for a few minutes inside the atrium and he was crawling between people's legs to get through. It was pretty funny and makes me glad I'm not really the mother of a toddler at my age! He kept saying (I think) "more go"!
I love both butterfly shots and the one with the green plant that looks like arabian-time slippers, or something. ^_^
Jealous that you get to use such an awesome camera!
Good job on the pics!!! what mode are you in? and was your fstop at the lowest? They look really great!! I bet you totally love it!! I loved looking at pictures of ben! I'm glad to know my boys aren't the only ones who may cause havic some days!!
Haha Ambyr you are speaking another language to me! I either use full auto mode or portrait. I haven't gotten into the more advanced stuff yet. You'll have to show me some tips soon!!
I'm about to post pics of our awesome day today!
I love the pictures. Ashley and I were supposed to go out there to see that, but somehow I think we both forgot...? How long is it going on?
