A week of not blogging
I can't believe it's been a week since I posted. I honestly haven't had much to blog about lately and have been in a tired and somber mood. Father's Day always gets to me a little since my Dad passed away, especially after the news about Brother Van. I was able to go to the funeral today and it was wonderful. He has such a great legacy in his kids and I was so impressed that two of his sons spoke and did such a great job. His oldest son, Jeff, really gave an amazing last lesson for his Dad. The Van Drimmelens (who we are sort of related to, my nephew CJ is married to Randi Van) are good people and will be in our thoughts and prayers!
We had a pretty good Father's Day weekend otherwise. We got to hang out at the mall, the three of us, and ate a great lunch where Ben kept us entertained with his constant dancing at Chili's. John and I just look at each other sometimes and wonder how we got so lucky! John is such a great dad and the fact that Ben is such a great kid is really a testament to that. We love you, John!
I am also anxiously awaiting the arrival of a present the government bought me through our economic incentive check (YES WE GOT ONE!!) So sometime between June 20-June 25 I will be in possession of my OWN camera! I can't even wait. I told John if I had felt better yesterday (we both got a bit of the bug Ben had on Friday of last week) then I would have been more excited. But now that it's ordered I can't wait to get it! I will put up a proper post on my photo blog once I get it and have a chance to snap some shots with it!
In the meantime, I just finished up a freelance project for American Airlines Publishing. My old magazine adviser from college is the Executive Editor there and got me the gig. I was so thrilled and hope they have more opportunities for me! This project was helping them finish out their Fort Worth CVB magazine and it was a lot of fun!
So that's about it with what's going on with us. We have a busy weekend planned and are excited to get together with some old and new friends. John's about registered for his Fall classes and is really excited (especially that we don't have to pay for it, THANK YOU AGAIN, US Government!) So all in all it's been a busy past week and it's not slowing down! I honestly kind of like it that way sometimes. :)
The funeral was very lovely. I don't know how any of them managed to get through without crying.
That's cool about the AA gig-may it be the start of many more to come!
I heard the funeral was very nice, and that Jeff was a wonderful speaker. (I wanted to go, but didn't want to bring the boys with me.)
I'm excited to see some shots with your new camera when you get it!
More pictures pleeze.
I'm sorry Father's Day was a little hard for you. But you are right, John is one of the best fathers I've seen! And I am SO excited for you about your camera!
