Update on Ben

I got an email from Lil Elks at 11:00am saying Ben had a temperature of 102. So I called his doctor and made an appointment for 2:00pm and headed to pick him up. When I got there he ran up to me smiling like nothing was wrong but he still felt hot. His teacher said that a couple of other kids in his class seemed under the weather so as they were taking a couple of their temperatures Ben says "me next!" So, his teacher just thought he wanted to do it, too. They took it, and thought something must be wrong with the thermometer and then took it again. Nope, it was 102 both times!

Luckily John had to stop at home between school and work and was home by the time I got there. He put Ben down for his nap and Ben fell right asleep. It was nice to have some time in the middle of the day to hang out, even it it was only for an hour and a half! John finished up some school work and got ready to go and I woke Ben up early and he was excited to go to "Ben's Doctor." And we made it right on time for his appointment.

My love/hate relationship with his doctor is the playhouse in the lobby. Ben loves that thing. So they called us right in and he SCREAMED for about 25 minutes. Through the nurse coming in and most of the time his doctor saw him. He just wanted to go play.

But there's nothing wrong with him. No flu, no strep, probably just a virus. They told me to give him Tylenol and let it run it's course. So while I'm glad we went to rule out anything that could be really contagious, I did have to pay $25 for nothing, well, except maybe a ton of screaming. Ben weighs 38 pounds though. Sheesh!

Luckily we made it out unhinged. We even went to Walmart on our way home to look for eye patches for me and John for Friday (I'll explain later!) Me and Ben have had a quiet evening watching Planet Heroes and playing with play dough. We're finishing up Monsters, Inc and he'll be off to bed in a few minutes! I seriously love my little family! It's been nice to have time together we wouldn't otherwise have, even if Ben is still a little sickly!

Sounds like our last few trips to the doctor. It is always a virus that they can't do anything about.

somtimes sick time can be nice because they get all cuddly. i know that's kind of a selfish sentiment, but what can i say? i love those cuddles. I hope ben feels better soon!

Glad it's nothing major, and I hope Ben feels better soon too!
Do you still have the same doctor that we talked about that my boys also have? I think I have the same love/hate relationship with that play set. I like that it gives the boys something to do while we wait but then they don't want to stop playing to see the doctor.

I hope he feels better!! It's no fun being sick, especially when its "just a virus" and they can't do much about it!

And we may go to the same pediatrician...ours has a big plaything in the waiting room and the girls NEVER want to leave! Though if we have to wait, it provides a nice distraction!

Glad it's nothing too terrible! You paid $25 for peace of mind, right? Pirates maybe for Friday? lol

Hope he gets all better soon.
