THIEF!!

I'm so mad about this! Aaron Hoelzl came by the other night to drop off the proof of the stake bookmark. His family runs the printer that prints all of the stake bookmarks that me and Mom do, as well as the Nativity promotional stuff. They're great to do it for a minimal amount of money. He brought with him the proof for the Colleyville Nativity display because they're printing a post card for them. He brought it because they completely ripped off my stuff from last year! It's this one designer AND she even had the audacity to put her website on the actual postcard! How presumptious is she? I have half a mind to send her a nasty email about how she's basically trying to take credit for work I created and her "imitation" was bad anyway. Granted, she got the jist of it down but the color is terrible, her fonts are all wonky. I didn't put the back because I didn't want to drive any traffic to her stupid website! And I know, I know you can read her type better, but it's a low res jpg and hers is all IN YOUR FACE WHITE TYPE! It's just wrong!

OK, that is just wrong! And I didn't know you made those! Another cool thing to add to your list of awesomeness! :)

Wow. That's really blatant. But it's even more rude of her to put her website on a church sponsored event to bring in business.

I would send her a scarcastic email and say something like, "I noticed that your design looks a lot like a design I did last year. Isn't it crazy that two totally different people can come up with the same design?"

Yeah, I wouldn't have been upset if she hadn't put her website. That's what really got to me. I'm still thinking of writing her an email. I'll let you know if I do!

ICK!

Totally send an e-mail. And let us know what it says. Ha ha.

What does wonky mean? I kind of like that word and would like to incorporate it into my work.

Missy  – (October 25, 2007 8:36 AM)

This is from Urban Dictionary:

3. wonky: not right, odd

Jenni had a wonky eye, it was the source of all her self-esteem problems.

I actually heard it from Harry Potter and the Wonky Faint that Victor Krum does while playing Quidditch...

Wonky! That word makes me smile! Mom told me about this thief, and it makes me mad! Come on! If you're not original enough to do your own, you should NOT be in the business! If you don't send her an e-mail, I will!

I like that example they give from the dictionary "the source of all her self-esteem problems" lol....
do you know where this lady lives? maybe we can toilet-paper her house! :)

Well, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Even if it IS wrong for her to completely steal your design. I agree that, like you, I wouldn't have been too too upset, until I saw her web site on the printed material. I wonder if maybe you could write a letter to the committee that puts on the nativity, and let them know what's going on. This woman might not listen to you, but if I personally were on the committee, I would have kindly mentioned how putting your own web site on the material is tacky (in kinder words). Word of mouth is a great advertiser, and that just goes to show that not only does she lack confidence in her ability (because she stole your design), but she feels that the only way she can get clients is by using the church to advertise.

Kelli  – (October 25, 2007 12:22 PM)

Wonky is one of my favorite words ever.

That's just plain tacky. I don't think changing the position of words constitutes creativity. By the way the original invitation definitely has a softer feel to it.

Doesn't anyone use stick figures anymore? It's a lost art.

Missy  – (October 26, 2007 10:31 AM)

I think James like to hear himself talk.

Missy  – (October 26, 2007 11:25 AM)

Oh, and apparently Lori Brinkerhoff told Colleyville it was okay to copy what we did, which is fine. My biggest beef with her, I guess, is that she put her website and the photographer's websites on the piece, too. On one hand it makes it look like SHE did it and on the other hand it's against church policy to do that anyway!! So I might just send her an email for her unethical behavior...

you could put a rotten potato in her mailbox. The Aztecs used to do that to show their displeasure with someone. Not many people know that, but I saw it on the internet so it must be true.
