Improvements 101
One of the things I was able to take over here at BISD is the Newsletter we send out every six weeks with report cards. Honestly, I think we can all agree it was not great. I'll leave it at that. But they didn't have a graphics person till me so it was the best they could do! I present to you the old version of the newsletter:
Versus my new, improved version.
What do you guys think?
MUCH better! Did you use InDesign for that?
I did use InDesign! I'm pretty much switched over from using Quark XPress on anything. InDesign is great!
And thanks, Kari!
It looks great! I bet they are all so super-impressed and glad you came on board!
It looks so much better! More eye catching and not as boring! You are definitely an asset to their company!! Too early for a raise?! lol
Wow! That's quite an improvement! I bet they're glad you're there!
That is great! Did you find them someone to print them for the same cost as the black and white ones? The new design is great!
Dang woman! That is some talent, I might actually read the second one, whereas the first one, no way!
It looks great! The color helps too, of course, but a MAJOR improvement!
I think they're definitely getting their money's worth! Well done, as always.
It looks good. I am glad that there are people like you in this world who actually can find joy in putting together a newsletter. I do 3 e-newsletters/newsletters a year for the volunteers at the Clinic. Needless to say, originally I was going to do 4 a year, but my lack of newsletter energy has decressed the number of issues.
I don't think it looks THAT bad. I mean, she really didn't break any major design rules or anything, unless you count "boring" as a rule, but your improvements are a thousand percent better!
Oh, and who came up with Hear Here? That's cute.
The new design looks great! Much more eye catching and bold.
Yeah, but Mandie, it may not be THAT bad (trust me though!), but they were scanning it into a rough PDF and emailing it to schools who would then COPY it and send it out with the report cards. Meaning the copy quality was deplorable and EVERY PARENT gets one! Not the way you want your school represented.
No, it won't be professionally printed though (at least not right now), but I will be saving a super high res b&w PDF to be copied and sent to parents. The nice full color version is for the web.
WOW!! That's the designer I know!!! You did an awesome job! They're gonna flip when they get the NEW version! By they way-I feel like a nobody commenting on your blog...since I'm like the 459th one!!!
