Monday Conundrum
I mentioned earlier that John is going to Richardson this evening for their police officer test. We have been going through the list of required documents to make sure he has everything he needs. High School Transcript? Check. College Transcript? Check. Birth Certificate? Uh-oh. John's parents live in South Texas and since he was born in Michigan, we can't exactly run and go get one. In fact, you have to submit your request either in person or by mail, no faxes or emails. I had thought that John's dad gave us his birth certificate a couple of years ago but we have searched our house up and down to no avail.
Finally John called his dad on Wednesday night to see if he had it. He said he'd go look then call John back. Sure enough, a little while later he called back and had found it. Yes! So he mailed it overnight the next day. It came Friday morning and then Friday night John asked if I wanted to see his birth certificate. I said sure, but they're never very exciting. He said his was fancy. Fancy? I've never seen a fancy one. So he pulls it out of the envelope and it says Travers City Hospital Certificate of Birth. Yeah, oh crap. It was the certificate that they give you at the hospital that's signed by the magistrate and has your footprints on it! It even says "Not a Legal Document" on the back. GREAT. I can't blame John, he really had no idea!
So now we're left with a dilemma. Does he go to the test anyway with this and hope that they let him take the test anyway on the notion that he is in the process of getting a certified copy? Or does he wait to get his birth certificate and miss out being able to test in Richardson?
Obviously, he's going to try and take the test. It might be a wasted drive up but Lewisville didn't require his BC so hopefully they will let him in anyway. I'm fully expecting they'll turn him away, but am praying that they won't. Won't you all say a little prayer for him, too? Good luck, John!
**Haha! Turns out he doesn't need the birth certificate for the test anyway! THANKFULLY! Say a prayer for him anyway!
Gotta love the drama! Good luck John!
