Police Update and Question for You All

Unfortunately, John missed passing the Richardson test by 2 points last night! Please be kind, he was really upset about it last night. I think he feels like he wasted the whole night and not getting home until almost midnight didn't help either. Him applying in Richardson was really last minute and he didn't have nearly as much time as he'd hoped to prepare and since we couldn't find any study guides online all we could do was assume that it was the same test as Lewisville which is a standard test used by many forces. Unfortunately, it was a completely different test! So on we look. He is still going to continue for Frisco and also apply in Duncanville. I'll spend a few minutes online looking for other places that are hiring. Ultimately we're not upset at all, we'll just keep looking!

Now, I need some advice. How in the heck do you get a toddler to sleep for more than 9 hours at night and to wake up LATER than 5:30am? I know I've been on a negative streak the past week or so, but I think I just need more sleep! Ben has had a really hard time falling asleep (usually by 8:00 on a good night) and has been waking up at 5:30am. Not hungry. Just ready for the day! It's been interesting. Keep in mind he needs to be up by 6:15-6:30 anyway, but 5:30 is WAY too early and that's not enough sleep for him! Anyone have any advice?

Umm... And did someone put they're voting for Hillary just to be funny? I think I might throw up! :)

I just finished a book called Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. I have some GREAT advice for you (specific to your situation). But it's too much for a comment. Leave a comment on my blog with you email address, and I'll send you the information!

Everything happens for a reason. Maybe John wasn't meant to be an officer in Richardson. Maybe he is meant to be one in the Dallas/Plano/Frisco area so you can be closer to me!! :-)

About sleeping-every kid is different. Try putting him down later, when he is more tired, if you haven't already. He should sleep longer...

Haha, that would be so fun! John's working on Frisco right now, so we'll see! But you have to be "asked" to participate in the testing process... ;)

Strangely enough, it seems the later we put him down the earlier he wakes up. So we put him down earlier so he'll get more sleep. He's only been doing this for about 2 weeks, maybe less. He still takes a good 2-hr nap during the day (I need to verify that with our babysitter that she's not letting him sleep longer than that) but he should be sleeping that long during the day. It's just weird! I'm hoping it's just a phase because he's been going through a growth spurt. We'll see.

I want to see baby Zayn!!

LOL, I want to see him too!!!! You have no idea how bad!!! I've given up guessing when he's coming! I can't wait till Friday. I want to hear my OB say, "You can't go home. You are way too dilated and are ready to have the baby." ...or something of that nature ;-)

Does your babysitter do lots of active stuff with him to wear him out? That helps also...but it very well could be his body trying to adjust and figure things out because he is a growing boy!

Being active during the day and taking shorter naps are the best ways, I think, to get a toddler to sleep more at night. Even my boys, who are 6, usually go to sleep around 8:30 and wake up at 7. If that doesn't help then hopefully it's just a phase!

It's probably just a phase. Tommy still goes through spurts like that. Maybe you should try going to sleep when he does, so YOU won't be so tired!

I feel your pain, John. I think that failing a test by 2 points feels a lot worse than failing it by 20. I failed a part of my CPA exam by 3 points last year, and that was just brutal. I ran out of time on the last essay question, so if I had just not taken that bathroom break in the middle of the exam I might have passed it. Because of that I missed out on the bonus I would've gotten for passing the exam within a certain amount of time. If I could do it again I would have just peed in my pants...
